i love surprises

i really do!
unless they're bad.
then nobody likes them.

but it's ok because this one was good.

i got home, after sitting in home depot for like 2 hours or something (oh my.) and

DING DONG

 the doorbell rang.

my business cards.

mkay so you're probably thinking:

"why is this a surprise?!?!"

and if i could read your mind i would tell you:

"i ordered them about a week and a half ago and they said the shipping would take three whole weeks."

i like them!

p.s. don't worry, i still have another braid tutorial for you today. hopefully it's not a failure... haha :P)

Braid Headband

I love love love braids. especially in my hair, whether it's a braid i do with my hair, or a headband braid.

love them.

the braided headband is one of my favs, it's so simple but it adds just a little bit to your hair to make it a little more exciting/colorful.

soooooo....
i'm going to show you how to make one. mkay?

(haha. like how my scissors say FABRIC ONLY? it used to be for me... cause i would use them otherwise when i wasn't into the whole crafting thannng. ;)

supplies!

~ fabric (i used knit, but you can use anything, it doesn't matter!)
~ elastic
~ scissors
~ hot glue gun (not pictured... it was heating up!)
~ hot glue sticks (they're in the picture... keep looking! ;)

the steps!

cut your fabric in three long strips....

stack the ends on top of each other and slide the end of an elastic piece into it.

hot glue together.

now braid! and keep braiding....
and keep braiding.....

until you get this!!

(connect the other end of fabric the same way)

and wellll.... the knit i used... didn't like. AT ALL. no wonder i never use it... so i gave it to my sister! hey, she wanted one and liked it sooo.... works for me!

but woah.
i still wanted one!
so i made a turquoise one! i love it. i'm probably gonna wear it onnnn.... wednesday. yup. that's it.

let me know if you try it! it's so easy and literally takes about five minutes.

(ooooh. i also had a different way to do this with kinda the same idea... if that made any sense. whatevs. i'll show you tomorrow (scratch that! SOON!! I've been very busy with vacations and school and such... :)

Dress form

My Grandma was at Tj Maxx a while ago and saw this huge metal dress form (you know... The ones that are usually $100+) for super cheap and thought of me. So since they are visiting this week they went to Tj Maxx here and found this pretty white one and got it for my {supa supa early} birthday. Isn't it gorgeous?!? It's in my little craft room and I love it. It's taller than ME. You'll probably end up seeing it a lot because I'll be using it to model things:)

In other news - I still am getting ready for my new product... But I'll give you a hint.....
It has something to do with......

ruffles.

*shhh!!! Don't tell anyone... ;)*

also, who here watching american idol? I'm raising my hand high.

and dannnng. This girl is uh-mazing. if you haven't listened to her go listen to her right this second and come back. this is her best song - and she has a lot.

back? mkay. HER GROWL. I could listen to her all day.

bye!!!

Tutorial: Large Rose Clip

The other day, a lady approached me with this flower, asking if I could make one in a different color because that's the only color they had at the store.

(sorry it's so bad quality! I didn't have very much light :-\ )

So I started getting to work and came up with this!

Annnnnd... if you want to make your own, let me show you!!!

I started with this really beat down, tank top I had saved for a while because I knew I could do something with it! But you can use basically any type of material!

Cut a strip about oh... probably 3 inches or so all the way around....

And since I wanted more of a finished look, I folded it over.

Grab some tulle and cut a strip about the same width as the folded fabric

Cut out a felt circle (however big you want it) and put a glue dot in the middle (with both fabric and tulle)

LOOSELY wrap it around and keep glueing (You want to make it super loose)

And keep going until you're done!!!

Then I put an alligator clip on it and stuck one of my labels on it and wala!

But then I also asked it she wanted something in the middle and she chose pearls, that's just what I did!

Super cute right?!

Mother's Day

Mother's is coming up in TWO days.

WHAT?!?!?!
Um, that was a little quick.

It kind of snuck up on me, and I needed to get ideas.
sooooo naturally, I went to tatertots and jello.

I swear this lady has everything on her blog.

through a bunch of links, I found these cute ideas!

here are some of my favs.

but this one is my absolute favorite.

celtic knot necklace from momma go round

don't you love it? I do. but my mom doesn't like to wear big jewelry, so I'll probably just make it for me. :)

resin earrings from grey luster girl

cute printable you could make into a card, put it in a picture frame, the possibilities are endless with these!

mother's day free printable from holiday snob

mother's day print from kiki creates

{oh the necklace there is gorgeous too!}

awhile ago I crocheted myself a baret, and my mom was commenting on how she loved it and how she would love a black one *hint much?* and then a little bit ago she commented on how she loved the crocheted flowers.  so I think I've come to the conclusion that I will make her a hat with a flower on it... thoughts?

p.s. I added a few headbands to the shop, I'll be adding *NEW* designs (eek!) this weekend so go check them out! :)
